A. James Paine, Jr., MD is a board certified otolaryngologist and plastic surgeon
with over 20 years of experience. Born and raised in Bluefield, WV, he received his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Richmond and his Doctorate of Medicine at West Virginia University. Dr. Paine completed his residency and fellowship training at several outstanding facilities, including; West Virginia University Medical Center (Dept. of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery), Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (Pathology Training) and Clyde Litton, MD, Washington D.C. (Facial Plastic Surgery).

Dr. Paine and his family returned to the area to serve the citizens of Southern West Virginia. In addition to Mt. State ENT, he has practiced at two other clinics including; Bluefield Ear, Nose and Throat, at which time he practiced along-side his father, Albert J. Paine, Sr., MD and at the McGuire Clinic in Richmond, VA.

Dr. Paine has been accepted to several professional boards/academies which include the American Board of Otolaryngology, American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society of Liposuction, WV Board of Hearing Aid Dealers, and the WV State Medical Association.

He is also active in the community having served on the Board of Directors of Mountain State University (formally The College of West Virginia), and is a long-term member of the Rotary Club, a “Partner in Education” with Shady Spring Elementary School and he currently serves as secretary of the Raleigh County Medical Association.



David A. Blaine, MD has over 10 years of experience in Otolaryngology. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1987 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his Doctorate of Medicine in 1991 from Wake Forest University, he completed his residency and fellowship training at the following facilities: The Virginia Commonwealth University and The Medical College of Virginia (Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Dept.)

Dr. Blaine is board certified and has been accepted at several professional boards/academies, including: The American Academy of Otolaryngology, The American Dermatology Association and The American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Blaine practiced at two other facilities before he and his family relocated to West Virginia in January 2005 to serve the patients of Mt. State ENT. He practiced at ENT Consultants of Virginia from 1996 until 2001, at which time he opened a solo practice in Charlottesville. His areas of interest include voice disturbance, head and neck surgery, and infectious diseases such as otitis media and sinusitis.
